Adapt East Boston, 2017

East Boston is almost completely surrounded by water. Without planning, East Boston will, over the next century, be devastated by the effects of climate change. At the same time, recent real estate activity is driving up rents, leading to growing issues of displacement and gentrification, and threatening East Boston’s immigrants and long-term residents. For Adapt East Boston (2017), we worked with the nonprofit NOAH to create a community-powered adaptation plan for East Boston that weathers the twin storms of climate change and gentrification.
