Lowell, MA - 2018

What makes a great gateway? What are the social and physical qualities that help immigrants and refugees thrive? For Lowell: A Greater Gateway (2018), we worked with the city’s Department of Planning and Development to 1) better understand and quantify the social and economic benefits that immigrants and refugees bring to Lowell, 2) take stock of how Lowell’s built environment helps immigrants and refugees integrate and thrive, and 3) make physical, policy-based, or programmatic recommendations aimed at making Lowell a greater gateway city.
