The Acre | Lowell, MA - 2022

Lowell is a city of neighborhoods, but very little neighborhood-scale planning has been done in Lowell. 2020 marked year one of “The Lowell Neighborhoods Initiative,” a three-year initiative to draft a neighborhood plan for all nine neighborhoods in Lowell. Our goal was to explore existing neighborhood conditions and propose changes that might better serve them. In Spring, 2022, we completed a neighborhood plan for The Acre, a historic and current landing place for immigrants ringed by Lowell’s distinctive canal network.
