Lowell Neighborhood Initiative | Lowell, MA - 2020-2022
Lowell is a city of neighborhoods, but very little neighborhood-scale
planning has been done in Lowell. 2020 marked year one of “The Lowell
Neighborhoods Initiative,” a three-year initiative to draft a
neighborhood plan for all nine neighborhoods in Lowell. Our goal is to
explore existing neighborhood conditions and propose changes that might
better serve them. In Spring 2020, we completed neighborhood plans for
Back Central, Downtown, Lower Highlands, and Pawtucketville. In Spring 2021,
we completed neighborhood plans for Upper Highlands, Belvidere, and South Lowell. And in Spring 2022, we completed neighborhood plans for The Acre and Centralville.
